These supernatural clusters are complex patterns, affected by the various nature, history and inhabitants of the different locations. They are cultural-ecological documentations of the city’s visible and invisible course of events. These, the protectors of the hidden pit-stops and yards, can guide a visitor to see beyond the architectonic surface, and reveal the beating heart of the city.

Welcome on a pilgrimage through landscape, nature and ecology.

In our pre-christian history, contact with the locational spirits, the genii locorum, was central for all those who built houses, performed their crafts or travelled through nature. Through different projects modernising our society, we have forgotten and discarded an important part of what it means to understand a place and show respect for the powers that lie just beneath the varnish of modernity. If we were reminded of our world’s animated, or spiritual, aspects, perhaps we would travel through it with a greater sense of holiness, and treat it more gently.

URBAN PILGRIMAGE

Genii Locorum – Ockult Atlas of Kungsladugård, is an urban pilgrimage through streets and landscape, from Slottsskogen, via Kungsladugård, ending up at Röda Sten, during which we use different tools to direct the narrative of the city-walk under the surface of the mundane. The Atlas gives you unique information of the places. Our printed Atlas contains maps, information, magical sigils and spells to guide the participant through the web of destiny. It will work as a bridge between your consciousness and the physical location, as you hold the book in your hands, reading from it. The reading becomes a meditative practice, to assist in slowing down the world, allowing you to lose yourself in the experience of the here and now of the location.

When you enter a place described in the book, you will find musical compositions, to help guide you into a suggestiv state of mind.

Our Atlas and our musical layers and compositions are built on our work procuring and creating sigils, words of power, spells and sound recordings connected to each spot. The collected material has guided our process, to let the different unheard wills of the city manifest through our work. Each component of the collected material bears the imprint of the zeitgeist of the locations, and together they create a suggestive symmetri to bring about the inner knowledge of the geography.

Traversing the path described in this book may take a day, it may take the rest of your life.

The project is funded by Kulturbryggan

2022-23

INANNA

Operan Inanna är ett elektroakustiskt operaäventyr om den sumeriska gudinnan Inannas nedstigning i underjorden. The work was inspired by their interest in spatial electronics, in particular by spatial acoustic sound and its impact on imagination. The Christian idea of the seven deadly sins lies at the basis of the libretto.

The seven parts of “Confessions” are concerned with the seven cardinal sins – lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The confessions unite the authors’ long-cherished ideas of creative experiments: performing music in the dark, involving other senses (smell, touch) and allegedly completely removing the visual aspect. However, in the opera, the latter is really the most activated factor. Through the abstract audio images and concrete pre-recorded sounds the listener’s imagination produces strong inner pictures linked to feelings, sensations or objects.

In 2016 the opera “Confessions” was awarded The Lithuanian Professional Theatre Award The Golden Stage Cross for best music and Lithuanian Composer’s Union’s prize Musical Nail of The Year. The opera is touring in Lithuania, Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden.

Presented by:
Ljudkonstgalleriet
GEIGER
Teater Trixter
Göteborgs Stad Kultur
Lithuanian Culture Institute

2016

Origin

There is a memory of origin within the collective consciousness of humanity, an idea concerning the wellspring of our civilisation.
